Boys Will Be Boys
Since I am a family photographer, I know quite well how much of a struggle it is getting boys of any age ready for a photoshoot. Let us be honest, even as they become men it is still a lot of work convincing them to get ready for a session. Trust me, I get it! I have a few of my own. But here are some tips to allow your photography session to run a little more smoothly.
1. Don’t be afraid of dirt!
Boys will be boys; they are curious little beings that are like a moth to a flame when it comes to dirt. When it is picture day it can be so frustrating. But do not lose heart, its ok if they are a little messy. Don’t we want to capture who your kids are in whatever season they are in? I have had so many of my clients say that their favorite photos are when they kids are just being themselves and not necessarily the posed photos.
2. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
It takes a lot of effort to get your family fully ready, out the door and to location, not to mention making sure everyone stays nice for that amount of time. So just let the small stuff go.
3. Let Them Be Free…
Boys will be more uncooperative if they feel restricted and restrained. Allowing them to be wild and carefree, it truly gives me the chance to capture real natural expressions and smiles.
4. Embrace What They Love
It does not matter if the boy is 7 or 17, boys hate having to do things they don’t like, so embrace what they do like. This might be bringing dinosaurs to the session or if there are seniors maybe it looks like going to the skate park and letting them skate and do tricks whatever it is embrace it and let me capture it.
5. Let Them Be Goofy
So often boys just need to laugh, whatever it is to make them think something is funny. Do hold back the jokes or games. They turn into the best kind of photos.
